An earthquake on Friday claimed more than a hundred lives in a remote area of western Nepal.
To assist with rescue efforts, security troops have been sent to the isolated districts of Jajarkot and Western Rukum, which are located roughly 500 kilometres (310 miles) west of Kathmandu.
The capital of Nepal as well as Delhi, a nearby Indian city, felt the shocks as well.
The army’s spokeswoman stated that around 100 individuals had been hurt. Jajarkot’s hospital is overflowing with wounded people.
Within an hour following the earthquake, three further aftershocks were felt, and many people chose to spend the remainder of the night outside their homes out of concern for additional earthquakes and damage.
Videos of partially collapsed multi-story brick houses are making the rounds in the local media. Posts on social media showed rescuers excavating in the dark to extract people from the wreckage of fallen buildings.
The prime minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, arrived in the damaged area on Saturday to supervise relief efforts and expressed his profound sadness over the deaths and property damage caused by the earthquake.+

But landslides brought on by the earthquake have blocked roads, making search and rescue operations more difficult.
Given the isolation of some regions and the chilly nighttime temperatures, Jajarkot district police officer Suresh Sunar told Reuters that it is challenging to determine the true scope of the crisis.
As per the data provided by Nepal’s Surveillance and Research Center, the earthquake occurred around 18:02 GMT on 23:47 local time.
The earthquake’s magnitude of 5.6 and its classification as a shallow earthquake—that is, one that happened near the Earth’s surface—were provided by the American Geological Survey.

Many people were injured after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Bajhang’s western area last month.
Two catastrophic earthquakes struck the nation in 2015, inflicting 22,309 injuries and 9,000 fatalities.
With a magnitude of 7.8, the first one occurred on April 25, 2015, and left massive damage and many casualties in its wake. Numerous other earthquakes, including one of 7.3 magnitude in May of the same year, occurred after this.
The earthquake, which mostly affected the western and central areas, destroyed or severely damaged nearly 800,000 dwellings, according to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
